Jaipur, February 19. Chief Minister Shri Ashok Gehlot said that the State Government is committed to the welfare of all sections of the society including Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Other Backward Class, Minorities and Economically Backward Class. He said that many important schemes have been implemented in the last three years in the interest of dalit, backward and weaker sections of the society.

Shri Gehlot was addressing the gathering on the occasion of Rajasthan Scheduled Caste Commission's newly appointed Chairman Shri Khiladi Lal Bairwa and Vice-chairman Shri Sachin Sarvate assuming charge at Yojana Bhawan on Saturday. Wishing both of them, he said that the State Government with the advice given by the Rajasthan Scheduled Caste Commission will be able to take much better decisions for the welfare of the Scheduled Caste category. He invited suggestions from the Commission regarding the welfare of SC category for the forthcoming budget.

The Chief Minister said that it is quite unfortunate that incidents of untouchability and discrimination are coming even in the 21st century. Atrocities on dalits and untouchability are a blot on humanity. In such a situation, it is the responsibility of all of us to encourage education and make the general public aware of it.

Shri Gehlot said, “We got freedom under the leadership of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar made the Constitution of the country, in which the basic spirit of taking everyone along is implicit. Based on this spirit of the Constitution, it is the duty of all of us to protect the poor, backward and weak people.” He said that it is the need of the hour that we create such an environment in the country where people of all religions, castes and classes live together.

MLAs, Public Representatives, Social Justice and Empowerment Department Secretary Dr. Samit Sharma and other officers were present on this occasion.
