Rajasthan / Maximum Women Should Get Self-Defence Training : Chief Minister

aipur, 8 March. Chief Minister Shri Ashok Gehlot has said that the State Government is committed to empower women and provide the safe environment in the State. He called upon women to raise their voices with full force against injustice, atrocity and harassment. The State Government will not allow any shortage of funds to provide self-defence training to women.
Shri Gehlot was addressing a state-level programme organised on International Women's Day at Birla Auditorium on Tuesday. He felicitated the people who did commendable work under Indira Mahila Shakti Protsahan evum Samman Yojana. He also visited exhibition and released a booklet and a poster related to increase awareness towards the Udaan Scheme.
He said women and girls are being given self-defence skill training in educational institutions and police lines through Nirbhaya Squads. We are making efforts to provide self defence training to maximum women and girls.
The Chief Minister said that keeping in view the health security of women and adolescent girls, the State Government has implemented 'Udaan Scheme'. 'It is our endeavour to carry the message of health and hygiene to every woman in villages and hamlets through this ambitious scheme. It is the responsibility of all of us including Anganbari Workers, ASHA Sahayoginis, Sahayikas, ANMs and Patwaris to contribute in making this scheme successful up to the grassroots level and also that free sanitary napkins reach to every woman and adolescent girl in the State,' he said.
The Chief Minister said, Hindi movie 'Padman' inspired to implement this scheme. Our Government has implemented this scheme with full commitment to provide health security to women, which is half of the population of the State. We have made a provision of Rs 200 crore for this in the previous budget. Shri Gehlot said that due to illiteracy and hesitation women in rural areas are unable to tell the hygiene related problems and they get affected by various diseases. This scheme will prove to be a boon for these women. He praised the subject of the movie 'Padman' for raising the untouched and sensitive issue such as hygiene among women and said that every person must watch this film.
Shri Gehlot said that women have brought laurels to the State with their talent, passion and struggle. Their participation is increasing in every sphere of life. The State Government has started many schemes with an objective of women empowerment, providing equal opportunity to move ahead and making women self-dependent by providing education. “We will provide smartphones with internet connectivity for three years to one crore 33 lac women heads of family linked with Chiranjeevi Scheme,” he said.
The Chief Minister said that all sections of the society have welcomed the recent state budget. He said, we are going to implement ‘Indira Gandhi Urban Employment Guarantee Scheme’ and Rajasthan is the only State where the families residing in urban areas will get employment for 100 days per year.' Our great leader and former Prime Minister Late Indira Gandhi is an example of women empowerment, who proved India’s power to the entire world with her leadership ability, the Chief Minister said.
Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Mamta Bhupesh said that the State Government has implemented Indira Mahila Shakti scheme of Rs 1000 crore for multidimensional development of women. Activities such as linking women and girls with education, to make them self-dependent through skill development and entrepreneurship development are being carried out with this fund. She said that 75,000 girls who had dropped out due to the corona pandemic have been linked again with education through the Shiksha Setu scheme.
Chief Secretary Smt. Usha Sharma said that Mahatma Gandhi Ji believed that society will progress if the position of women gets stronger. UNFPA Country Representative in India Andrea Warner said that Rajasthan is moving fast towards reducing girl child marriage and infant mortality rate. She said that UNFPA is cooperating with the State Government on the issues such as ensuring gender equality and participation of women in society.
Principal Secretary, Women and Child Development Smt. Shreya Guha said that in the first phase of Udaan scheme free sanitary napkins have been provided to 27 lakh girl students in 34,000 government schools and 3 lakh adolescent girls and women through 1410 Anganbari centres.
Minister of Disaster Management and Relief Shri Govind Ram Meghwal, Chairperson, State Women Commission Smt. Rehana Riyaz and Chairperson, Social Welfare Board Dr. Archana Sharma were present in the function. Commissioner, Women Empowerment Dept. Smt. Rashmi Gupta gave the vote of thanks. A large number of women and representatives of institutions working in the field of women empowerment, anganbari workers and others were present.
Shri Gehlot felicitated Smt. Sushila Bohra of Jodhpur in Indira Mahila Shakti Special Award category and Azad Foundation, Jaipur in the personal and institutional category. Rs. 51,000, certificate and memento were given as the first prize. Vinita Trivedi of Banswara and Foundation Fior Di Lotto India INC Ajmer were given second prize and Jaisalmer’s Smt. Sunita Choudhary and Jaipur’s Smt. Nitisha Sharma were given third prize. Smt. Kiran Nirmal of Sikar, Smt. Vimla Bunkar of Banswara, Smt. Santosh Mewara of Kota and Smt. Mool Kanwar of Jaisalmer were awarded in the category of Sathin and Bal Vikaskarmi. Smt. Ucchav Sharma of the Women Empowerment Department and Smt. Suman Yadav of ICDS were given the state-level honour.
Hindustan Zinc-Kaushal evum Udhyamita Vikas Sansthan, Jindal South West Foundation were felicitated in the CSR category. Similarly, branch managers Meenu Gajraj of Fatehpur Shekhawati and Nilesh Saharan of Tamkore (Jhunjhunu) were awarded in the category of bank sanctioning maximum loan under IM Shakti Udhyam Protsahan Yojana. Jhunjhunu District Collector Shri Viplav Nyola and Jhunjhunu leading district manager Shri Ratan Lal Verma were felicitated for sanctioning maximum loan under IM Shakti Udhyam Protsahan Yojana. Besides this, Nirbhaya Squad of Police Commissionerate, Jaipur was awarded the certificate for the commendable work in the field of girl security and protection.
